Microblading

Microblading

Eyebrows are unarguably one of the most prominent features on our faces, and many are quite unhappy with their appearance. Even after spending a substantial amount of time using makeup products to give the eyebrows a fuller and darker appearance, the results are unsatisfactory. For many drawing on eyebrows and filling them in is their worst nightmare. At Harvey Aesthetics and Wellness, we can help give your eyebrows a fuller, more beautiful look through various procedures, including microblading.

What Is Microblading?

Microblading is a cosmetic procedure used to inject pigment into your skin to give it a natural-looking tint. The tint fills in gaps and covers the skin peeking through eyebrow hair to give it a fuller, bushier look. Essentially, microblading is a hassle-free and semi- permanent alternative to filling in your eyebrows with makeup products.

How Long Does Microblading Last?

Unlike tattoos, the microblading tool doesn’t penetrate deep into the skin and only layers pigment on top of the epidermis layer. The medical-grade tint can last on the skin for anywhere between 18 to 30 months, depending upon skin type.

You can either wait till the color starts to fade before revisiting us for a touch-up or visit a microblading expert every year to maintain a natural look. If you prefer a deeper, richer tint for your eyebrows, you may want to come in once every six months.
You may also need to come in for frequent touch-ups if you have oily skin or a high level of sebum or oil in your skin, as it makes it harder for the pigment to latch onto your skin. Having oily skin doesn’t mean you are not eligible for microblading, it just means the pigment will fade quicker.

Microblading Risks, Precautions, And Healing Period

There are always risks to consider when opting for an appearance-altering cosmetic procedure. However, microblading is completely safe. We insert a medical-grade pigment into the skin that does not cause an allergic reaction. After you get the procedure done, your eyebrows will take about two weeks to heal. During that time, you will have to keep them clean and dry to ensure the cuts heal properly, or they may develop an infection. The cuts will turn into scabs and fall off on their own within two weeks. Do not pick at the scabs, as it may result in permanent scarring, ruining the aesthetic appeal of your eyebrows. Another important point to keep in mind is that you will be stuck with the shade you pick for a good six months or more, so choose wisely. You can discuss all your reservations with our esthetician at Harvey Aesthetics and Wellness, and we will be more than happy to guide you. We also offer multiple other treatments you can opt for if you find microblading is not for you.
